Canadian Bottcher wins world junior curling championship
Canada's Brendan Bottcher defeated Sweden 10-4
to win the gold medal at the world junior men's
curling championship.
The Edmonton skip needed only eight ends to wrap up Canada's first junior men's world title since 2003.
Sweden made it a two-point game with a single in the sixth end but Canada put the game away with five points in the seventh.
Scotland won bronze with a 7-3 win over Norway.
In women's play, Scotland successfully defended its title with a 6-5 win over the Czech Republic while Russia beat Sweden 7-4 for the bronze.
Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alta., finished in sixth place.
