UNIVERSAL SPORTS TO BROADCAST WORLD CURLING CHAMPIONSHIPS

 Women’s Events Start Sunday from South Korea; Men’s Events Start April 4

LOS ANGELES – March 18, 2009 – After winning at the U.S. Olympic Trials a few weeks ago, Debbie McCormick and her U.S. teammates will try to head into the Vancouver Games as world champions. Universal Sports, in partnership with the World Curling Federation (WCF) will offer broadcast and webcast coverage of the Women’s World Curling Championships, March 22–29, from Gangneong, South Korea, and the Men’s Championships on April 4–12, 2009.

Universal Sports’ broadcast team includes former U.S. National Curling Champion Patti Lank and play-by-play commentator Danny Lee for the women’s tournament.

TEAM USA: Debbie McCormick will try to skip her team to the top, giving the United States its first – and only – world title since 2003. Debbie McCormick with teammates Allison Pottinger, Nicole Joraanstad, Natalie Nicholson and Tracy Sachtjen hope to improve their seventh-place finish from the 2008 World Curling Championships.
