European Mixed Curling Championship, Madrid Spain
Wales has won their first Major Curling Championship as Adrian Meikle skipped his Welsh rink to a 6-5 win in the Championship final Saturday defeating Denmark's Joel Ostrowski scoring 2 in the 8th and final end for the win. Walesd after finishing 3-2 in their Group, won a tie breaker over Hungary 6-5 in an extra end and then defeated a previously unbeaten german rink led by the borther and sister team of Rainer and Andrea Schoepp 7-4. Germany was 6-0 at the time.
