SPIELS--looking for teams
Champions Tour for Prostate Cancer
Organizers of the Champions Tour For Prostate Cancer scheduled at the Winnipeg Granite Club for February 3 to February 7, 2005, are concerned that although there appears to be a lot of interest in the event from across the country, entries are very slowly trickling in. This is the major event for senior curlers this season, with total prize money of $33,000 and a first prize of $14,000.
Don Duguid, chairperson for the spiel, is looking for full field of 64 teams. He has already signed up a number of sponsors, assuring that the selected charity will receive a substantial cash contribution. What is really puzzling Duguid is why more teams haven't filed their entries to date.
With an entry fee of only $500 per team, special hotel accomodations and transportation for out of town teams, fun and entertainment on both the Friday and Saturday nights, and an opportunity to mingle with the legends of the sport it is hard to understand what teams are waiting for. Duguid indicated that teams can post date their cheques to February 3rd, the starting date of the bonspiel.
Entries can be sent to the Granite Curling Club, 22 Mostyn Place, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 0Y9 c/o Terry Braunstein.

Like you, I was surprised to learn of a few openings in the 56th Annual Men's International Bonspiel at the Chicago Curling Club.  Thirty two teams will compete in this four event bonspiel which begins Thursday morning January 13, 2005 and concludes with finals on Sunday afternoon, January 16, 2005.  The $400 USD entry fee includes open bar, continental breakfast and lunch each day of curling, steak fry on Thursday night and the legendary house dinner parties on Friday night hosted by members of the Chicago Curling Club.  As you know, our Men's event is special due to the intense competition on the ice and decades old friendships enjoyed off the ice.  I'd like to extend an open invitation to a few teams interested in joining our event.
Thanks for your help.  Please have interested teams contact me as soon as possible via email at sande510@concentric.net
